While most people think of summer as the prime time to get on the water, here at boat town we believe summer is a mindset and nearly everyday can be a lake day, especially in Texas! Below are some of what we believe to be the best benefits to boating during the off season.
No one else on the water
Many people associate boating with warm weather, so you're likely to encounter fewer crowds and less competition for popular spots. This can provide a more peaceful and serene experience on the water. Due to the decrease in water activity, there is more consistency in the water making it great for water sport enthusiasts. The fewer boats make it easier to practice without interruption or disturbances. Not to mention, it can be a lot less stressful for the captain!
On top of fewer people on the water, there's also a lot of benefit in there being a smaller crowd at public boat ramps. If you trailer your boat to and from the lake, this can be a huge time-saver!
Easier to get into the dealer for maintenance
Because many people are not actively using their boats, the dealerships usually have more availability to help service customers with a quicker turnaround time.
Scenic views & Improved water clarity
Winter often brings a different kind of beauty to bodies of water. In many cases, water clarity can also be much better in the winter due to reduced algae growth and fewer boaters stirring up sediment.
Improved fishing
Many fish species are more active in cooler water temperatures. As a result, winter can be an excellent time for fishing enthusiasts, as fish may be more likely to bite.
New challenges with that cold water
Wakesurfing, wakeboarding and waterskiing in cooler temperatures can be a fun challenge for experienced riders. It requires proper clothing and gear, and can add an extra element of excitement to the sport. It may motivate you not to give up as quickly resulting in less falls!
More Time for Customization and Upgrades:
Buying a boat in the fall and winter can give you more time to customize or make any desired upgrades to your current boat before the busy boating season arrives. The other benefit could be taking advantage of any left-over new inventory at your dealer that they'll be willing to make some great deals on. Perfect for the buyer – brand new boat, full warranty availability, and still getting some great discounts!
Immediate Availability:
Since there are fewer buyers, you may be able to find the exact make, model, and features you want more easily. There's less competition for the boats on the market as most people wait for summer, the typical boating season.
While each season brings different benefits and concerns, there truly is no bad time to get out on the water and spend time with family. There are many more benefits to the off season of boating but we just wanted to highlight a few key perks.
